BLUEGRASS AND CLAWHAMMER SKILLS

Regardless of your path, you’ll start by learning all of the needed skills, from how to hold your banjo, to chords and left-hand flourishes.

Even if you’re already a beginner player, these lessons will help correct poor habits and set a solid foundation for fast and excellent playing.

The lessons below give you an example of our quality.

CLAWHAMMER SKILLS

In this lesson you’ll learn the basics of the right hand when playing Clawhammer. It is the 9th lesson in the “Beginner Clawhammer Skills” course.

When you join Banjo Mountain you’ll start with “How to Hold the Banjo” and make your way through lessons “Positioning the Fretting Hand”, “Fretting Basics”, “Tuning”, “Chord Basics”, “Tablature” and many more.

Once you complete the “Beginner Clawhammer Skills” course you move on to the “Beginner Clawhammer Songs” course.

BLUEGRASS SKILLS

In this lesson you begin the journey of learning “rolls.” Rolls are the backbone of Bluegrass playing and they are dazzling.

Over time, with practice, you’ll get so fast you’ll astound even yourself. The “Alternating Thumb Roll” is one of the most common rolls. This lesson is the 10th lesson in the “Beginner Bluegrass Skills” course.

You’ll start off with “How to Hold the Banjo” and then move through “Picking Hand Position”, “Picking Basics”, “Finger Picks”,  “Index Leading Roll”, and many more.
