CLAWHAMMER SKILLS

In this lesson you’ll learn the basics of the right hand when playing Clawhammer. It is the 9th lesson in the “Beginner Clawhammer Skills” course. When you join Banjo Mountain you’ll start with “How to Hold the Banjo” and make your way through lessons “Positioning the Fretting Hand”, “Fretting Basics”, “Tuning”, “Chord Basics”, “Tablature” and many more. Once you complete the “Beginner Clawhammer Skills” course you move on to the “Beginner Clawhammer Songs” course.

In this lesson you begin the journey of learning “rolls.” Rolls are the backbone of Bluegrass playing and they are dazzling. Over time, with practice, you’ll get so fast you’ll astound even yourself. The “Alternating Thumb Roll” is one of the most common rolls. This lesson is the 10th lesson in the “Beginner Bluegrass Skills” course. You’ll start off with “How to Hold the Banjo” and then move through “Picking Hand Position”, “Picking Basics”, “Finger Picks”,  “Index Leading Roll”, and many more.
