“We Are the Champions” is a song by the British rock group Queen. Arguably one of the most popular and recognizable rock anthems of all time, the song was written by Queen’s lead singer Freddie Mercury and was first released on the group’s 1977 album “News of the World”. “We Are the Champions” proved to be one of Queen’s biggest hits, charting at number four (only number four??) on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and number two on the UK Singles Chart.
You may notice that the following arrangement retains the song’s original key (F) while keeping the banjo in standard G tuning (nice not to have to re-tune the banjo or use a capo when playing in a key other than G!).
NOTE: At 13:17, 21:08, 21:28 and 27:58 your esteemed banjo teacher refers to his index finger when he actually means his middle finger. Please don’t hold this against him. He means well.
